James F. George 77, of Manchester died September 11, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on April 5, 1937, he was the son of the late Frances J. George and Mary (McQueeney) Smalley. He was educated in the Manchester school system and graduated from Manchester Central High School. James served in the U.S. Air Force where he worked as a meteorologist and was discharged with honors.
Prior to his retirement he worked for many years with Stop'Shop where he worked his way up to store manager. Most recently he worked as a bartender at the Even Par Social Club.
In Jim's younger years he played softball for many leagues in the Manchester area. He also enjoyed golf and playing pool. Jim was also an avid fan of all the local national sports teams, and liked watching pro-golf on television. Above all else he loved mowing his lawn, and enjoying family times in his back yard.
Family members include his 5 daughters, Lynn George Plummer of Ft. Myers, Fl, Sandra George Merrill (deceased) of Manchester, Lisa George Sheehan of Manchester, Katherine George Landry and her husband James of Manchester, and Julie George of Salem. James also leaves behind his loving fiancée Therese Frechette and her daughter Monique Pratte and her husband Robert of Manchester.
James also had many grandchildren, Richard Plummer, Nick Charest, Dustin Merrill, Amber Merrill, Mercedez Bernatchez, Todd Bernatchez, Joshua Sweeney, Tashia Landry, Logan Landry, Raquel Pratte and Mason Pratte. Two great grandchildren Kayleigh and Landen Charest. Other family members include his siblings; Ellen "Sis" George Brouillard, John "Chick" George, Maryann Smalley Robinson, and Florence Smalley Renfrew (deceased), his Uncle Robert "Sonny" George, cousin Robert George.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 19, 2014 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester.
