Kenneth D. York, age 48, a lifelong resident of Norton passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Portland, Maine on June 26, 1966, he was a loving son of Lynda D. (Costa) Tyler of Norton and the late David A. York. He grew up in Norton and was a graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton.
For the majority of his working career, Kenneth was a self-employed contractor specializing in the building of homes.
Ken was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Mansfield; where he served in various capacities including church sexton.
A true outdoorsman, Ken enjoyed fishing, camping and white water rafting in Maine. His family was an important part of his life and he will always be remembered for his exceptional cooking skills.
In addition to his loving mother, he is survived by his devoted daughters; Nicole L. York of Rhode Island and Colleen M. York of Weymouth. He was the dear brother of Sherry Lynn Tidwell and her husband Greg of Florida, his twin brother Keith A. York and his wife Peggy of New York, Kraig W. York and his wife Kerry of South Carolina and the late Sharon York. He was the cherished grandfather of Tyler, Aidan and Jaxson. He was the loving grandson of Russell Costa of Dartmouth, and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Memorial Services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, September, 27th at 11:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 47 High St., Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Ken with a donation made in his memory to the Bristol Trinity Episcopal Church, 370 Bay Street, Taunton, MA 02780.
