Richard "Dick" Joseph Enos, 96, of Sarasota, Florida passed away peacefully on August 26, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita Enos, father of Jay Enos, Dede Foerster, and the late Kathryn Enos, grandfather of Sheryle Correia, Timothy and Sean Foerster, Hope Porter, Kristen Cummings, and Jon Enos, great-grandfather of Rebecca Correia, Jackson and Charlotte Foerster, Katelyn and Ian Cummings, Camille and Wesley Enos, and good friend of Barbara Whitehead and Paul Parisi.
Dick lived most of his life in New Bedford. In his early years he was a manager for the First National grocery store chain until he became a police officer in New Bedford for 20 years. In 1951, he started Enos Home Oxygen medical supply company out of his home, which has continued to expand and today is a thriving business.
He served as President of the Gammons Charitable Foundation. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Whalers in Sarasota for 20 years. Dick was a self-made, hard working man, and a kind and caring father, grandfather, and friend, and always there to help when needed.
A burial service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford on Saturday October 25, 2014 at 10 AM. A memorial celebration of his life will take place in March 2015 in Sarasota.
