Obituary

GLOUCESTER – Emil M. Hady, Jr. 82, died Wednesday evening, September 10, 2014, following a brief illness with his daughter, Ruth by his side. He was the husband of the late June I. (Bragdon) Hady, who died in June of 2005. They had shared fifty-one years together.
Born in Beverly on March 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Emil M. and Bessie (Morris) Hady. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korea War Era, he was proud to be a member of “The Big Red One.” He loved reminiscing about his days served in Germany, where he was stationed for one and a half years. He was honorably discharged in March 1956.
Emil was employed for many years as a mechanic for the Michaud Bus Company, and later as a sheet metal fabricator for Gorton’s of Gloucester until his retirement.
He had many interest including, camping and road trips. As a member of the Nathaniel Warner Company and the Coupon Company of the 2nd N.H. Regiment, he loved reenacting the Revolutionary War. He was also a member of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion. Known to be a jokester, he had a quick wit and dry sense of humor.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, June and Vernon McKellips of Cook Station, Missouri, Ruth and James Conley of Gloucester, Amy and Danny Noseworthy of Peabody; a son, Matthew E. Hady of Gloucester; twelve grandchildren, William McKellips, Jennifer, wife of Xavier Guiraud, Kevin, husband of Krystal McKellips, Shane Martin, James “Rusty” Martin, Christina Martin, Melissa Martin, Matthew Conley, Matthew Bodoni, David Noseworthy, Rachel Noseworthy and Christopher Noseworthy; eight great-grandchildren, Caitlin McKellips, Elliot and Nina Guiraud, Abigail McKellips, Ila Martin, London and Kendall Samuels and Aiden Martin-Chociej; his brother-in-law, Richard, husband of Margaret Bragdon; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, James R. Martin.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning in the Gloucester United Methodist Church, 436 Washington St., Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Wesleyan Cemetery.
