…formerly of Tewksbury, U.S.M.C. Vietnam Veteran; 63
ESSEX JUNCTION, VT - Barry John Kenney, 63, a former Tewksbury resident, died Monday, September 8, at his Essex Junction home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Melrose, December 10, 1950, a son of the late John and Arlene (Nickerson)(Kenney) Maxfield, and was raised and educated in Tewksbury. He graduated from T.M.H.S. with the Class of 1968 where he was known as an accomplished athlete. He enlisted into the Marines and served in Vietnam as an Aviation Ordinance Specialist and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.
Barry had a long career in the auto sales industry working at several dealerships including Hallisey and Quirk before moving to Vermont in the early 1990’s and working as a sales manager at Capitol Lincoln Mercury in Essex Junction.
He leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Deja (Rice) Diapella of Tewksbury; a brother and sister-in-law, James P. and Joanne (Wood) Kenney of Tewksbury; a brother-in-law, Robert Merrill of Tewksbury, who was the husband of his late sister, Sharon (Kenney) Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with U.S.M.C. Honors will be held Monday, September 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or visit woundedwarriorproject.org
