Obituary

Mark S. Guzaj, 58, of New Bedford died Tuesday September 2, 2014 suddenly at St. Luke's Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, he had lived in New Bedford, Boston, and Cape Cod.

Mark had an extensive background in security with Fairhaven Shipyard, the Omni Parker House, and Oyster Harbors. He also worked as a self-employed contractor at LandMark Contracting, as a small boat engine repair mechanic, and as a real estate agent.

He was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School and Roger Williams University. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1549 in Hyannis and also a member of the Low Tide Yacht Club in New Bedford.

His hobbies included sailing, cooking, and spending time with his nephews and nieces.

He is survived by his siblings, Patricia E. Ford, Bonnie English, and Joseph Guzaj, all of New Bedford, and Christine Lawrence of Fairhaven; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen (Howard) Guzaj, and his siblings, Frank Guzaj and Theresa Schneider.
