Funeral services for Charles Adair, 73, of Ashburn, GA., will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday September 7, 2014 at Ashburn 1st Baptist Church in Ashburn, GA. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Adair passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at his residence surrounded by family after an extended illness.
The son of the late, Joseph Henry and Beatrice White Adair, he was born in Ashburn. He lived in Sarasota, FL before moving back to Turner County in 1957. He was a member of The Ashburn First Baptist Church and was a former Cub Scout Master. Mr. Adair was a salesman for Hobby’s Clothing Store in Ashburn for thirty years, after which, he and his wife, Janice, purchased Ashburn Ace Hardware store and operated the business for seventeen years, until their retirement. Mr. Adair also coached youth baseball for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Janice D. Adair of Ashburn, GA., two sons Allen (Kathy) Adair of New Smyrna Beach, FL., and Richard (Lori) Adair of Kathleen, GA. Grandchildren Benjiman Allen Adair of Moultrie, GA., and Rebecca Erin Adair of Kathleen, GA. Sisters Faye A. Clark of Ashburn, GA., and Janice A. (J.R.) Nutt of Ashburn, GA. A great grandchild, Tinsley Adair of Moultrie, GA., and special extended family Mike, Chrisy and Abigale Taylor of Ashburn, GA.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. at Ashburn 1st Baptist Church.
