Virginia Ruth Holmes Wiger, 91, of Tifton died Friday, September 5, 2014, at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 13, 2014, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 1911 Whiddon Mill Road in Tifton. James Leedy will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date.
Mrs. Wiger was born September 24, 1922 in Lima, Ohio and was the daughter of Charles O. Holmes and Frieda Ottoman Holmes, both deceased. She was a member of the West Tifton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A graduate of the Watchtower Bible College of Gilead in 1945, Virginia and her husband Samuel spent their lives in full time service to God, spreading the good news of Jehovah God’s Kingdom by Christ Jesus. They enjoyed missionary assignments in Guam and Japan, as well as special assignments throughout the United States.
Mrs. Wiger was predeceased by her husband, the late Samuel Wiger, whom she married on February 9, 1946, as well as her brothers Robert Holmes and Glenn Holmes. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Evelyn Blosser of Port Clinton, Ohio.
