Hanover – Pearl A. (Lucas) Ridder 84, formerly a longtime resident of East Bridgewater, died peacefully and surrounded by her loving children at South Shore Hospital on Thursday September 4. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul C. Ridder.
Born in Weymouth and raised in Abington she was the daughter of the late Roy C. and Ellen (Danielson) Lucas and a graduate of Abington High School.
For many years Pearl was a familiar face among the children of East Bridgewater working with the special needs and kindergarten children of the community.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cribbage and bridge.
She will be remembered for her kindness and caring ways with everyone she touched.
She is survived by her loving children, Susan J. Durand and her husband Robert of Whitman, Carol A. Gleason and her husband Richard, Christine E. Hastings and her husband Scott all of East Bridgewater, Jayne L. Mahoney and her husband Neil of Plymouth and Scott T. Ridder and his wife Jennifer of Pembroke, her grandchildren Elizabeth Durand, Aimee Durand, Catherine (Durand) Kemp, Kimberly Gleason, Justin Hastings, Laura Hastings, Craig Hastings, Leslie-Ann (Curley) Dellefave, Brian Curley and Nicholas Ridder, and her great grandchildren Sophia Kemp, AJ Kemp, Harper Hastings, Piper Hastings and Gus Dellefave. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Jean (Lucas) Gambrell.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours to be held Monday September 8 from 3-7 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A celebration of her life will follow at 7 PM and all are welcome to share their thoughts and memories of Pearl. Burial will be at a later date at Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
