Eleanor B. Jacobsen
...of Hampstead, NH, formerly Tewksbury; age 76
HAMPSTEAD, NH - Eleanor B. (Petitpas) Jacobsen, 76, a Hampstead resident since 1985, died
Saturday morning, Nov. 27, at the Woodbriar of Wilmington, nursing care facility after a lengthy
battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert J. Jacobsen, with whom she had celebrated a 54th
wedding anniversary this past October 8th.
She was born in East Boston, Sept. 28, 1928, a daughter of the late Bert and Melina Petitpas.
She was raised in East Boston, where she graduated from East Boston High Schoool. She lived
in Tewksbury for 33 years, before moving to Emerson Village in Hampstead 19 years ago.
As a resident of Tewksbury, she was a communicant of St. William’s Church, and since moving to
NH, of St. Anne’s Church in Hampstead.
In her earlier years, she worked in the Medical Transcription Department at Tewksbury Hospital
for more than 10 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Edward Quigley of Sandown, NH, Donna and James Gibbons III of New Boston, NH; four
grandchildren, David M. Sheehan Jr., Erica Sheehan, John Sheehan, and James Gibbons IV; a
sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Phillip Litch of FL; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Frank and Mary Jacobsen of Lawrence Carol Ann Cox of Hookset, NH; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was also grandmother of the late Meredith Gibbons.
A Memorial Mass will be
held Saturday, Dec. 18, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Emerson Ave. Hampstead, NH. In lieu of
flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.
