Obituary

Joan Miriam (Beauvais) Douty, 69, of Worcester died Wednesday, September 3rd in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She leaves her husband of 41 years, Bradford L. Douty; two daughters, Anna E. Douty of West Boylston and Martha M. Douty-Perez and her husband, Julio of Framingham; a grandson, her angel and gift from God, William David Douty-Perez; a brother, Charles Beauvais of North Fort Myers, FL; two sisters, Pauline Johnson of Port Royal, SC and Patricia Laramee of Worcester. She was predeceased by three brothers, Roland, Robert and Raymond Beauvais.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Roland J. and Evelyn (Wilson) Beauvais. Joan graduated from the former high school of Commerce, David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School and attended Quinsigamond Community College. Mrs. Douty was a lifelong member of All Saint’s Episcopal Church and its Nenana Group, Women’s Group, Altar Guild, its Over 60’s Club and she sang in St. Cecilia’s Choir. Joan was a nurse for 35 years working for the Visiting Nursing Association then at various nursing homes and the PIP Shelter. Mrs. Douty was a strong and passionate advocate for causes relating to autism and special needs. She loved to cook and spend time at Old Orchard Beach and Wells, Maine.
The family would like to thank the staff of DaVita Dialysis and the staff and nurses of the Cancer Care Unit and the Palliative Care Team at Massachusetts General Hospital for their care and compassion during Joan’s illness.
Her funeral is Monday, September 8th with a service at 11:00 AM at All Saint’s Episcopal Church, 10 Irving Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, September 7th from 2:00 until 5:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the program Joan’s daughter, Anna attends Advocates/74 Maple Street, 74 Maple Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
