Obituary

Nonna Kliss Lehmkuhl, 79, of Marblehead, MA died Monday, September 1, 2014.

She was born March 14, 1935 in Pinsk, Poland. Her family immigrated in 1949, originally settling in Utica, NY.


Nonna received a degree in Chemistry from Utica College of Syracuse University and later went on to earn a MEd and MS in Computer Science from Northeastern University. She then went to work at Northeastern University as an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering Technology until she retired.

Nonna excelled at playing and teaching bridge, and was awarded the title of Bronze Life Master by the American Contract Bridge League. She was passionate about gardening and enjoyed traveling throughout the world and singing in her church choir. She was also very active in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

The widow of Robert Kliss and Dr. Carlton B. Lehmkuhl, she is survived by her four children: Kathy Riall, Natalie Klobucher, Bob Kliss and Elizabeth Kliss and 9 grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: There will be a Prayer Service held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Xenia Russian Orthodox Church, 170 North Lowell St., Methuen, MA. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception to follow the burial at 1:00 P.M. at Nonna's home, 3 Lime Rd., Marblehead, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Nonna's memory to St. Xenia Russian Orthodox Church, 170 North Lowell St., Methuen, MA, 01844.
