Obituary

LEICESTER; Stephen E. Haley, 72, of 5 Pine Ave., Cherry Valley, a section of Leicester, died Saturday, August 30 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Kathleen A. (Bigott) Haley, three daughters; Heather-Lyn A. Haley and her partner Glen Harris of Worcester, Hilarie J. Haley of Leicester, Heidi E. Young and her husband Kevin of Sturbridge, a son, Steven E. Haley and his wife Maureen of Barre, a sister, Deborah J. Richardson and her husband William of Boylston, seven grandchildren; Alisha Zimmerman, Jacob Young, Bridget, Edward, Madeline, Brooke Haley and Fiona Haley, three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Zander and Zavier Zimmerman and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of George E. & Jean (Libby) Haley.

He was a graduate of Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, ME. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a communications engineer from 1977 to 2006 at UMASS Hospital on Lake Ave. in Worcester, retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Leicester.

He enjoyed spending time with family and going to Freeport, ME. He was known as the true “MacGyver”.

The Funeral will be held Monday, September 8 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester, with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-6 PM in the funeral home.
