Obituary

Matthew L. "Matt" Jacobson, 24, of Paxton passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 1st. He is survived by his parents, Robert E. “Jake” and Julie A. (Logan) Jacobson; his sister, Alyssa L Jacobson and her partner, Michael Doggett of River Ridge, LA; his paternal grandparents, J. Donald and Carole H. (Jacobs) Jacobson of Worcester; his aunt Laura A. Jacobson of Holden and several great-uncles, great-aunts and cousins.
He was born in Worcester, and had lived in Paxton for the past 21 years. Matt was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School and was a member of the varsity football team. He then earned his B.B.A. in Accounting at Hofstra University and later his M.S. in Taxation also from Hofstra University. Matt had been employed as a Senior Accountant for the firm of M. Love & Associates.
Matthew was larger than life. Carpe Diem was his motto, living every day of his life to the fullest. When entering a room he lit it up with his smile and swagger, always dressing “fresh”. To know Matt was to love him. He was a kind, compassionate, and sensitive young man who loved to laugh, play, travel; he enjoyed being outdoors and being surrounded by people. Matt loved animals and did his best to help every stray he found.
Matt loved life, sharing happy times over the years with his “brothers” and friends from Paxton. The connections made at Hofstra were strong and long lasting, He loved playing and watching sports; baseball, soccer, basketball, football, snowboarding, fishing, especially the Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox.
Most of all, Matt loved his family – the special relationship he had with his mom and dad, his beloved sister Alyssa “Tish” and her partner Mike; his grandparents Bubbie and Zaydie, Aunt Laura, Aunt Ina, Uncle Harris; his cousins Scott and his fiancé Sara, Michael and Monica and their children, David and Kristy and their children; and his “special little guy” Simba. Matt spent many happy years going on ski trips and camping trips with family and friends, who were like family to him, to Indian Head Resort, Cancun, Bermuda, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Curacao, Madrid, Tenerife, California, Florida, Washington DC, and traveling to Europe with the People to People program. He loved the beach and the water, enjoying many years vacationing in Harwich, boating in Newport, and fishing wherever and whenever he could.
Matt was so proud of his Master’s of Science Degree in Taxation. He had just begun the job of his dreams two weeks ago. As a senior accountant, he was planning to study for his CPA. He was so excited to begin his new career and loved his new office, which to his delight had windows overlooking Worcester.
Matt’s family loved him more than words can describe. There wasn’t a day that went by that we didn’t say “I love you” to each other. Our wonderful memories of family trips, meals together, days at the beach, parties at the pool, watching movies, playing cards and board games, impromptu dancing, playing with many animals, and endless laughter will live in our minds and hearts forever. We were blessed to have Matthew in our lives for 24 years. Every day with Matt was a precious gift – one that he left for us to cherish and remember with pride and love.
Matthew will be missed forever but never forgotten.
