Mrs. Laraine M. (Hill) Fennelly, Of Woburn, age 67, died unexpectedly, Wednesday August 27, 2014. Born in Cambridge, Laraine was the devoted daughter of the late Shirley L. (Quinn) & Chester F. Hill.
Laraine was raised in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School, class of 1966. As a young child, Laraine played with two young girls who became her lifelong friends, Nancy O'Shea-Murphy & Carole Torrice. They stayed friends for over 60 years, and were known as the 3 amigos or 3 musketeers. The three of them, and their families, often traveled together, visiting York Beach, Maine, Vermont, and Meredith, NH. Laraine always had to have her taffy from Maine at least once per year and enjoyed trips all over New England for the fall foliage, one of her favorite times of the year. She also enjoyed visiting her sister Priscilla Poli at her home in Quincy. She liked doing so because Priscilla lived near the ocean.
After graduating High School, Laraine attended Middlesex Community College to become an activities director. She went on to work at the Choate Hospital in Woburn, as a nurse's aid for 10 years and eventually became the activities director at the Woodlawn Manor Nursing Home in Everett. This is where she met her future husband, Arthur Fennelly, who also worked at the nursing home.
Laraine was a wonderful and caring person. She often volunteered and donated her time at her church, St. Barbara Church of Woburn. She loved ceramics and found great pleasure in giving her pieces to family and friends. Laraine most enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her daughter Katrina and her 4 loving grandchildren, Juliana, Aaron, Mollie and Emma.
Laraine was the beloved wife of Arthur R. Fennelly. Devoted mother of Katrina Stewart of Florida and her husband Paul. Sister of Priscilla Poli and her husband Mark of Quincy and the late Florence Osborne and Susan A. Hill. Step mother of Arthur Fennelly Jr. of New York, formerly of Wakefield. Loving grandmother to Juliana, Aaron, Mollie and Emma Stewart and further survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
