ROCHESTER: Ruth M. Kostick passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2014, two days shy of her 89th birthday at home in Rochester.
Ruth was raised by her grandparents, William T. and Agnes D. Hall, both in Jamaica Plain, and at their home in Rochester, a place she recalled with fondness for the rest of her life. Ruth earned a BA from Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire and lived in several cities and towns throughout the country prior to settling in Sherborn in 1973.
She enjoyed a long career as a Medical Lab Researcher at Harvard University, and while employed there, continued her education in areas she loved – Art and Music. Ruth was a generous and caring woman who made a difference in many people’s lives.
Ruth will be dearly missed by family and friends, among them her cousins, John A. Hall of Rochester, with whom she made her home for the past five years, Margaret L. Hall of Waltham, Bruce T. Hall of Groton, Helen Schell of Leesport, PA, and Elizabeth (Schell) Tarr of Lansdale, PA. Predeceased by her husband, John A. Kostick, in 2007, she will also be fondly remembered by his six children, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
At her specific request, there will be no funeral services. Should you wish to make a donation in Ruth’s memory to one of your favorite charities, the gesture will be very much appreciated by her family.
