Ruth (Rogers) Gilmore,92, formerly of Westborough, died Thursday, August 28, 2014, leaving her four sons; Richard W. Gilmore, Kevin H. Gilmore, Gregory R. Gilmore and Bruce K. Gilmore, two daughters; Suzanne Gilmore McLaughlin, and Deborah Gilmore Prewitt, 10 grandchildren, nephews and niece.
Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Fay Gilmore.
Born October 10, 1921, she was the daughter of Ellen (Page) and Arthur M. Rogers of West Newton. Ruth graduated with honors from Newton High School, attained her RN from Newton-Wellesley School of Nursing, and matriculated at Framingham State College. She was proud to have been one of the first nurses enrolled in “The Framingham study”. Over the years she worked as a school nurse at the Fay School and at St. Mark’s, and several area hospitals.
She was an avid reader, a prolific knitter, she used her knitting skill to bring joy in the form of artisanal gifts to both family and community.
A Memorial Service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the James C. Nicholl, Jr. Chapel at the Overlook Community, 88 Masonic Home Rd., in Charlton.
