Violet Mae Mathews

Violet Mae "Vi" (DeFord) Mathews, 85, former Anderson resident, died August 20, 2014 in Hilo, Hawaii.
She was born in Anderson, Indiana on December 2, 1928, the daughter of Lucy and Ernest DeFord. She was employed as a dental assistant in various dental offices in Anderson. She was a member of the Chesterfield Christian Church, the Shrine Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a son, Lester Roby Laird of Hawaii, 4 grandchildren: Heather Carpenter, Ginger Kelly, Tim Geller and Hide Laird and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband David G. Mathews, a daughter, Tracy Geller and 5 siblings.
Private Family graveside services will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
