Obituary

Kenneth S. Elder, 74, of East Bridgewater, died Wednesday August 27 at Norwood Caritas Hospital.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1940 he was the youngest of 6 children of the late Esther and Robert Elder.

Following graduation from Quincy Trade High School he met Hilda, his wife of 54 years and they moved to East Bridgewater where they raised three boys.

Ken was very involved in the Boy Scouts, Union Congregational Church, Wheels of Time Car Club, and supporting the sports and music activities of his sons.

He was a police officer in East Bridgewater for 22 years - a job that he loved. When not working as a policeman, repairing campers, or fixing cars and boats, he loved to spend time traveling with his wife in their RV, boating, watching NASCAR, or just sitting by the canal watching the boats sail by.

He is survived by his loving wife Hilda and three sons, Kenneth Elder II of Middleboro, Eric Elder and his wife Kelli of Bridgewater, and Keith Elder and his wife Felicia of Kingston, MA and two loving grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Ken's life at funeral services to be held Wednesday September 3 at 10 AM in the Union Congregational Church; 105 Pleasant Street, East Bridgewater, burial will follow behind the church in Union Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday September 2 from 4 - 8 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
