Claire E. (Dion) Fisette, 84, formerly of Jenckes St. Woonsocket passed away peacefully on Friday August 22, 2014 at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Bertrand Fisette who passed away in 1979.
Born in Woonsocket, Claire was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Laetitia R. (Normandin) Dion. She was a lifelong resident of the city and resided at St. Antoine for the past three years.
Claire was a graduate of St. Anne School and St. Clare Girls High School, Class of 1947. In 1983 Claire graduated from Southwood Hospital School of Practical Nursing and was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the John E. Fogarty Memorial Hospital and later at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island. Following her retirement from nursing Claire worked at Stop & Shop and was a hospice respite care volunteer. Claire was a longtime parishioner and daily communicant of Holy Family Parish.
Claire is survived by her son Rev. Carl B. Fisette, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Providence. She was the sister of Therese C. Dion and the late Lionel and Marcel Dion. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church, 414 South Main St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-8 pm in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Ave. North Smithfield, RI. 02896.
