Rita F. (Wager) Flaharty, 71, of Hudson, died unexpectedly in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday, Aug. 18th. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Flaharty in 1993.
Rita was born in Marlboro, daughter of the late Vernon L. and Rita (Allen) Wager. She was raised in Hudson where she attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson Catholic High School. She was employed by the Town of Hudson and most recently was a social service agent at the Hudson Senior Center until her retirement. She was a member of the Hudson Senior Center; member of the Hudson Eagle’s Ladies Auxiliary and spent many years as a voting poll worker during elections in Hudson. Rita was a longtime resident of Hudson until she moved to Fort Worth with her son Sean and his wife Teann in March of this year.
She is survived by her son, Sean P. Flaharty and his wife Teann, formerly of Hudson and currently of Fort Worth, TX; her sister, Mary McQullian of Marblehead; her brother, Anthony Stankus of Arkansas; her niece, Patrice Wager and nephew, Tony Wager, both of Grapevine, TX and was the sister of the late Vernon Wager who died in 2012.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26th at 11:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Monday, Aug. 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
