Obituary

Therrien, Henry ‘Hank’ J. of Dedham, peacefully passed away on August 21, 2014 at the age of 82. He leaves his wife Patricia (Kilroy) Therrien. He was the devoted father of Stephen F. Therrien and Christine Carlson of Twinsburg, Ohio; Kathleen M. Therrien of Boston; Brian J. Therrien of Scottsdale, AZ; Janine P. Mancuso and husband Carl, of Dedham; Matthew T. Therrien and wife Laura of Litchfield, NH; and Michelle A. Triessl and husband William of Walpole. He is also the proud grandfather of nine - Bryce and Kyle Therrien; Lauren, Philip and Andrew Mancuso; Noah, Adam and Ainsley Therrien; and Camden Triessl.

Hank attended Boston English High School class of 1949, graduated college with a BSEE from Northeastern University in 1954 and an MSEE from The University of Southern California in 1956. He worked for Hughes Aircraft and, once the family settled back in Massachusetts, for MITRE Corporation. He was a Lead Engineer, contributing to the development and fielding of AWACS, a military defense system, working with NATO members and other countries.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St. Dedham, Monday at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, Dedham, at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 4-8pm. Interment, following the Mass, in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.

Due to Hank’s long standing commitment to Alzheimer’s disease research, he took part in multiple studies for Alzheimer’s disease at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston University School of Medicine for 15 years, as recent as December 2013. He donated his brain to further the research of this disease.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Henry Therrien may be made to support Alzheimer’s disease research at Boston University School of Medicine.
