CHICOPEE – Dean C. Auman, 77, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 21, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Catawissa, Pennsylvania on December 2, 1936, a beloved son of the late George J. and Margaret A. (Craig) Auman. He was raised and schooled in Catawissa and lived there until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955. He served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired in 1975 with the rank of Technical Sergeant after just over 20 years of service to his country. Following his military service, he returned to Holyoke in 1974 and, in 2004, moved to the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee. He was employed at the Smith & Wesson Company in Springfield. During his leisure time, Dean enjoyed meeting his many friends and speaking with various employees at the stores where he shopped in the area. He was a die-hard Red Sox fan and was always ready to watch his beloved team. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Eileen R. (Hartling) Auman who was Called Home on November 27, 2008. They were married on June 5, 1965 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby and were blessed with 43 years of happiness together. He was also predeceased by his loving daughters, Lori J. Auman who was Called Home on October 10, 1992, and Lynn M. Beaudry who was Called Home on March 16, 2013. He leaves his loving son-in-law and caregiver, Wayne A. Beaudry of Chicopee with whom he lived; his loving son, James D. Auman and his wife, Debbie, of Chicopee; his loving daughter, Kelly A. Auman of Holyoke; his three cherished grandchildren, Crystal Beaudry and her fiancé, Juan Flores, David Hannum and Zackary Auman; his two cherished great-grandchildren, Jadalyn and Damian Flores; and his dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Auman and Hartling families. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Service of Committal for Dean and his wife, Eileen, on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
