WINNISQUAM - Barbara Rose McGinn Rueffert, 89, of Winnisquam, NH, died August 8, 2014 at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Laconia.
Barbara was born April 24, 1925 in Medford, Mass., the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (McArdle) McGinn.
Barbara worked as a switchboard operator for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. for many years in both Massachusetts and Virginia. Upon her retirement from the company, she moved to New Hampshire where she resided for fifty-one years with her husband and three sons. Barbara loved traveling and she and her husband made many trips across the country. They both were very involved in square dancing, which they loved, as well as the groups they square danced with. Barbara also served as a teacher’s aide in the Canterbury public school system.
Barbara and her husband were both active members for many years in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Laconia, NH.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Gustav C. Rueffert, in 2002.
Barbara is survived by four children, Kenneth Rueffert of Barnstead, N.H., Kevin Rueffert of Winnisquam, N.H., Gustav P. Rueffert of Herdon, Virginia and Barbara Chauncey of Lovettsville, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:00AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2238 Parade Road, Laconia. Rev. David Dalzell, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow the Funeral Service at 1:00PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H.
