Obituary

Diane Park Whatmough, 52, of Deerfield, NH lost her battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Elliot Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 24, 1961 in Lawrence, MA a daughter of Patricia (Shelley) and Philip S. Park, Jr. Diane was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, Class of 1979. She went on to Newbury College in Boston. Her love for the outdoors and animals continued until her last day at home. She adored her country line dancing nights as well as spending the last 25 years working the Big E every September. She had a hand in the beginning of the farm stand operation at J&F Farms, where customers still ask about her. Always being a nurturer to children, she ran a daycare at the family home in Derry and went on to nanny until she became ill.

She is survived by her husband David, his two sons Joshua and Ryan. Her three daughters Melissa and her husband Anthony Dolloff, Amanda and Jillian Ferdinando, all of Derry. Their father, Philip Ferdinando, and three grandchildren who were the light of her life, Mason Vincent, Audrey Grace and Lucas James. Her parents Philip and his wife Laurette of Windham, Patricia and her husband Ronald from Barrington. Her maternal grandmother Margaret Shelley of Wilmington, MA. Also survived by her sister Patti and four brothers, Donald and wife Angie, Dana and wife Cris, Douglas and wife Debbie, and Darryl. As well as seven nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Following cremation, a Celebration of Life was held on Monday, August 25, from 4-9pm at Brookstone Event Center, Rte. 111, Derry, New Hampshire. A private burial service at a later date to be held at the Old Center Cemetery, Deerfield, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Diane's honor to the ALS Association (www.alsa.org) or Carpe Diem for Diane (www.carpediemfordiane.org).
