Bridgewater - Ernest A. Enos, 82, lifelong resident of Bridgewater, died Monday at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Eleanor A. (Mattos) Enos.
Born Jan. 16, 1922, in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Manuel and Elizabeth (Oliver) Enos.
Mr. Enos received an associate’s degree from Bentley College and a business degree in accounting from Boston University.
He was an insurance executive of his own underwriting company, Trans Atlantic Marine.
Mr. Enos was a pilot in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was an avid boater, pilot and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Ernest A. “Jaye” Jr. and Bruce A. Enos, both of Bridgewater; three brothers, Anthony Enos of Onset and George Enos and Richard Enos, both of Bridgewater; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Albert and Edward Enos.
His funeral will be held at 8:15 a.m. Saturday from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 a.m. Visiting hours Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Thomas. Aquinas Cemetery.
