John R. "Bob" White, Sr.
Retired Haffner's Oil Technician

TEWKSBURY: John R. "Bob" White, Sr., age 83, of Dracut, formerly of Tewksbury and Wilmington, passed away at the Willow Manor in Lowell on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
He was the beloved husband of Joann L. (Black) White, who passed away on January 21, 2006.
Born in Somerville on November 8, 1930, he was the son of the late William and Marjorie (Merlin) White.
"Bob" was raised in Wilmington and attended Wilmington schools.
In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War with Company D, 7th Calvary Regiment. He was awarded several decorations for his active duty service including the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, the National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed for over 20 years as an Oil Service Technician by the Haffner's Oil Company in Tewksbury.
Bob resided in Wilmington until moving to Tewksbury in 1957. Following the passing of his wife, he moved to Dracut , where he lived with his son and daughter-in-law.
Bob enjoyed tinkering and repairing motors and working around his home.
He is survived by one son, Michael T. White and his wife Michelle (Barnard) of Dracut; five grandchildren, Cody, Dalton, Hayley, Michael T. White, Jr., and Ryley White; a daughter -in-law, Kerry (Ahern) White of Townsend; three brothers, William White of Beverly , Gerald White of Wilmington, and Franklin White of Lowell ; two sisters, Suzanne Mackey and her husband Ronald of Whitman and Marjorie Delorey and her husband Daniel of Tewksbury; also many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces ,nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Bob was the father of the late John R. White, Jr. and brother of the late Cynthia Lloyd, James and Donald White.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to American Parkinson's Disease Association, www.apdama.org, 72 E Concord St., Boston, MA 02118.
