Obituary

Albert R. LaFountain, 79, of East Freetown died August 14, 2014 unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Patricia A. (Harrison) LaFountain.
Born in East Freetown, the son of the late Leon J. and Bertha J. (Protin) LaFountain, he lived in East Freetown all of his life.
Mr. LaFountain was the proprietor of Pine Grove Plastics for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, bowling, travel and antique cars. Mr. LaFountain formerly served as the dog officer and field driver for East Freetown. He served in the National Guard Reserves.


Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, William LaFountain and his wife Irene of New Bedford and Roger LaFountain and his wife Mary and David LaFountain and his wife Cheryl, all of East Freetown; 2 daughters, Kimberly Cravinho and her husband Michael of East Freetown and Helene Fortin of Fairhaven; a son-in-law, Donald Thomas, Jr. of East Freetown; 2 brothers, Daniel LaFountain of East Freetown and Robert LaFountain of Acushnet; a sister, Carol Bailey of East Freetown; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Diana Thomas and Kenneth LaFountain and father-in-law of the late Steven Fortin.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 19th at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 18th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284-9168.
