Howard E. Ricketson, 99, of New Bedford died Monday August 11, 2014 at Sacred Heart Home. He was the husband of the late Catherine R. (Breault) Carney Ricketson and the late Helena (O'Malley) Ricketson.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Herbert and Addie (Bosworth) Ricketson, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mr. Ricketson was formerly employed by Morse Twist Drill in the small drill milling room. He later worked as a produce manager for the Almac's Supermarkets until his retirement.
He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was a longtime volunteer at Sacred Heart Home.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Catherine Carney Webber of Salem, OR; and Maureen Carney Scully and her husband Bob Perry of East Taunton; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was the stepfather of the late Janet R. Butler and brother of the late Henry Ricketson, Herbert Ricketson, Ethel Nowers, and Ruth Pye.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 20, 2014 at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
