Ruth A. (Capen) Farland, 87, of Manchester, died August 13, 2014 at St. Teresa Health Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester on April 21, 1927 to Ralph and Beatrice (Cote) Capen. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester and had wintered in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Ruth worked as a supervisor at Elliot Hospital for many years and had also worked at several Manchester area mills. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and trips to Mohegan Sun. She was a member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roger R. Farland in 2013; a daughter, Dorothy V. Farland in 2002; a grandson, Neal Farland in 1999; and by two siblings, Alfred Capen and Doris Capar.
The family includes a son, Real “Ray” Farland and his wife, Lise, of Manchester; a granddaughter, Lori Barnwell and her husband, Scott, of Derry; two great grandchildren, Douglas and Owen Barnwell; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
