DUDLEY – Otto E. Drescher, 87, of 407 Dresser Hill Road, died Sunday, Nov. 21, in Webster Manor. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Bernice R. (Mikolajczak) Drescher; a son, Allen J. Drescher of Brookline; a daughter, Janice M. Wirth and her husband Michael C. of Sheboygan, WI; five grandchildren, Allison Drescher of Boston, Abigail Meyer and her husband John of Manhattan, Theodore Drescher of Boston, Michael E. Wirth and his wife Ruth of Sheboygan Falls, WI, and
Sandra Brill and her husband Michael of Oostburg, WI; 8 great grandchildren, Noelle, Kevin, Brooke, Jonathan and Samantha Wirth and Erin, Shannon and Nicole Brill; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Oscar, Arthur and Edward, and 2 sisters, Sally Therrien and Emma Oleszewski.
Otto was born February 26, 1917, in Mechanicsville, CT, son of Edward and Amelia (Wahl) Drescher. He attended local schools, and lived in Webster and Dudley all his life. He served as a staff sergeant in the US Army during the Army of Occupation in Europe, and received an honorable discharge in 1946.
Otto worked for 38 years at Cranston Print Works Co. in Webster, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and a life member of the Southern Mass. Police Association. He was a founding member of the Dudley Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his yard work along with fishing and hunting.
The funeral, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Nov. 27, in the First Congregational Church of Dudley, 135 Center Road. Burial will be in Corbin Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Friday, Nov. 26, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
