Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY – Corinne I. (Salvail) Rousseau, 98, a longtime resident of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on September 4, 1915, a beloved daughter of the late Edmund P. and Delvina (Charron) Salvail. She was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and lived there for many years before moving to South Hadley in 1950. She lived in South Hadley until 1992, when she moved to the Fairhaven Apartments at 400 Britton Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee. During her early years, Corinne was employed by the former F.W. Sickles Company. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild. She was a member of the South Hadley Golden Age Club and a member of the Friends of the South Hadley Elderly. She enjoyed meeting up with her many friends for a good game of cards, playing bingo and going on day trips with an occasional trip to Foxwoods. For many years, Corinne enjoyed traveling to Tennessee to visit her daughter, Carol, and her family. Most of all, Corinne was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Leo T. Rousseau, who was Called Home on July 31, 1991. They were married on June 12, 1937 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving daughters, Shirley I. Rossmeisl and her husband, Edward, of Charlton, MA, and Carol A. Tracy of Nashville, TN; her four cherished grandchildren, Laurie Teece and her husband, Ronald, of Charlton, MA, Mark Rossmeisl and his wife, Laurie, of Franklin, MA, Dawn Sears of Nashville, TN, and Scott Tracy and his wife, Allyson, of Knoxville, TN; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Matthew Teece and his wife, Holly, of Dover, NH, Bryan Teece and his wife, Melissa, of Fall River, MA, Ryan Tate of Nashville, TN, and Kyle Tracy of Knoxville, TN; her cherished great-great granddaughter, Lucille Teece of Dover, NH; her dear sister, Jacqueline Young of Holyoke; her dear brother-in-law, Francis “Mike” Rousseau of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Rousseau and Salvail families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving son-in-law, David Tracy; her dear brother, Ferdinand Salvail; and her dear sister, Lillian Farrant. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke for their kindness and compassion over the past years. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, August 16, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at a later date at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
