Mary “Ruth” Dotson Hyde, 81, of Tifton died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Terrell Roberts and Rev. Jimmie Hinson officiating. Mrs. Hyde will be entombed at Tift Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Greg Hale, Jimmy Luke, Justin Dotson, Brad Dotson, Matt Davis and Buddy Hale will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Hyde was born on June 11, 1933 in Dearing, Missouri and was the daughter of George Thomas Dotson and Minnie Pendley Dotson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Charlie Hyde; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rudy and A. B. Casey, Dorothy and Leroy Luke and Irene and Clyde Hale. She was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for Dotson and Hyde Logging and later became an interpreter for the Georgia Agrirama. She attended Tift Avenue Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hyde is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Donnis Hyde of Brookfield; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Betty Dotson of Tifton; two granddaughters, Kandy Tawzer and Brandy Hobbs and husband, Tim; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Hobbs, Dalton Hobbs and Kate Marie Hobbs; and several nieces and nephews.
