Dennis Edward Woodson, 89, of Chester, VA formerly of Chase City, VA passed away on August 9, 2014. He was born on April 19, 1925 in Charlotte County, VA to the late Samual Woodson and the late Gracie Hardy Woodson. He is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Helen Woodson, one brother, Tommy Woodson, and his sisters, Katherine Lockett, Fannie Simmons, Odelle Shobe, and Gracie Berkley. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Parrott and her husband Jimmy of Chester, two grandsons, Scott Parrott and his wife Victoria and Marty Parrott and his wife April both of Chester, three great-granddaughters, Abby, Sydney, and Natalie, and three sisters, Isabelle Cabiness, Gladys Fulp, and June Woodson. Mr. Woodson is a World War II Navy Veteran, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and a member of the VFW. He retired from Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
