Obituary

Rose “Nana” (Solomon) George, of West Roxbury, passed away on August 10, 2014.
Rose was an expert dressmaker who shared her passion for sewing by teaching adults and children for decades. She was fortunate to have a close-knit family and many friends who will remember her for her resilience and loving nature. Rose enjoyed many wonderful trips with the love of her life, Sam, and together they had many parties and functions for their friends and family. Until the past few years, Rose worked tirelessly for the Church, spending many hours cooking for mercy meals and other functions, serving at these functions and organizing and sewing for the craft table at the Church Bazaar for many years. She enjoyed senior day at the Church on Thursdays, playing cards and bingo with her friends. Her sunny disposition and love for her family and friends will be missed.
Rose was the loving wife of the late Samuel George, devoted mother of Rosie Rines and her husband Larry of Scituate, and Michael George and his wife Nan of Clearwater, FL. Rose is survived by 2 sisters, Catherine Aborjaily and Lucille Abdelahad, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, “Red” Ferris and George Solomon, and her sisters, Helen Bethoney, Adele Moses, Alice Bethoney, Mary Maloof and Lila Abdou.
Rose’s Funeral Service will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church Thursday August 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. Visitation in the Church beginning at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory may be made to the Church or to the Nicholas G. Beram Veterans Assoc. Scholastic Achievement Awards c/o George Salah 26 Meadowbrook Rd. Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
Rose will be laid to rest with her beloved Samuel at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
