DARTMOUTH — Virginia Hamilton Gray of South Dartmouth, MA, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. Curtis C. Tripp.
She was a graduate of Friends Academy, the Mary C. Wheeler School and Vassar College. She married John Bullard Gray in June 1949. They spent most of their sixty one years together in Dover, MA before they retired to South Dartmouth in 2003 and until his death in 2010.
Mrs. Gray, who was known as Dinny to her friends, will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her devotion to her family and her charitable and community work.
Mrs. Gray is survived by her sister, Louisa Knowles, her three children, John Bullard Gray Jr. of Jamestown, RI, David Mitchell Gray of Baltimore, MD and Lucinda Gray Carey of New Canaan, CT., as well as seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Gray will be held on Friday, August 15th, at 2 pm at the Grace Church, 133 School Street, New Bedford, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation in Mrs. Gray's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
A private burial service will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Dover, MA.
