Delia Branam Williamson, 79, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, August 11, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Ronald Reese and the Rev. Drew Richey officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Williamson was born July 20, 1935, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Robert L. & Precious Newsome Branam. She attended high school in Ocilla and attended business school in Macon. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and cross-stitching. She lived most of her life in Ben Hill and Irwin Counties and loved to walk. Mrs. Williamson was a member of Abba Baptist Church, the Ladies’ Sunday school class, and served as church pianist for many years. She also played 2nd base on the Abba softball team.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Denise & Howard Maddox of Fitzgerald; a granddaughter: Savannah Maddox who is attending college in Augusta; and two brothers: Edwin Branam of Cordele and D.C. Branam of Gainesville, Florida. Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Sammie Williamson; a son: Allen Lee Williamson; five brothers and two sisters.
