Obituary

Mr. Gerard Marc Debrosse, 88 years old, of Milton Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
 
He was born in Gonaives, Haiti, on April 17, 1926 to the late Venise Adolphe and the late Judge Marc Berthaud Debrosse. Gerard completed his studies at the following institutions: Frere de L’Instruction Chretienne, Lycee Gefrard of Gonaives, Lycee Firmin of Port-au-Prince, Faculty of Law at Gonaives. He was married to the late Marie-Therese Lamercie Dorvil, in December 29, 1955.
 
Gerard was a well-known and beloved member of the Haitian community at Saint-Marc and had played many leadership roles. He was a professor at College Saint-Gerard at Saint-Marc. Later, he founded College of Saint-Marc along with his colleagues. In addition, he was appointed as Lieutenant Governor subsequently as Mayor of Saint-Marc, Haiti. Simultaneously, Gerard could frequently be found leading programs such as Football, Gabar Boy’s Scout, Cultural dance and President of the Youth Choir at Saint-Marc.
 Gerad is survives by his brother Pierre-Antoinne Debrosse, and his sisters Gertrude Lavelanet, Giselene Debrosse, Paulicienne Lebrun and his sister-in-law Lucienne Debrosse. He survived by his children: Fillonie Debrosse-Saint-Louis, Henry Claudys Debrosse, Linda Debrosse, Marc Evens Debrosse, Jean Daniel Roberto Debrosse, Nicole Debrosse, Rosenelle Debrosse Dauphine, Yves Reynolds Debrosse, Pierre Debrosse, Bertude Debrosse, Guymner Debrosse, David Debrosse and Danie Debrosse. He also survived by his sons -in-law Rollins Saint-Louis, Harry Juste and Philippe Dauphine; his daughters-in-law Yolande Macean Debrosse, and Gaelle Millien. He also survived by 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, countless nieces, nephews and great nieces, and cousins. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Joseph Russo Funeral home, located at 814 American Legion Highway, Roslindale MA 02131.The funeral will take place on Saturday August 16, 2014, at 9:00 A.M, at Boston Missionary Baptist Church, located at 336 Dudley Street, Boston, MA 02119 with the burial immediately following.
