Obituary


AHERN, Karen M. Of Belmont, NH, formerly of Dorchester, MA. Passed away unexpectedly at Mass. General Hospital on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at age 57. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Marguerite (Gaunt) Ahern and sister of the late Kevin Ahern of Florida. She is survived by her loving family, sister, Cheryl Ripley and partner Mike McBrearty of Belmont, NH; brother, Rick Ahern of California; sister-in-law, Gail (Henry) Ahern of Florida; nieces and nephews, Jessica Ripley of Center Barnstead, NH; Ian Ripley of Manchester, NH; Chantel Pierre Louis, her daughter Taty Ralston, and her husband Shultz of Manchester, NH; Stephen, Rik, Jason, Kyle and Derek Ahern of Florida. Also survived by many other family members and friends who loved her dearly, including two of her closest friends, Kathy Mello of Framingham and Meamer Roos of Raynham.

Born on February 20, 1957 in Dorchester, MA. She graduated Dorchester High School in 1975. Always a kind and generous person, she would put the needs of others before her own and never complained in times of hardship. She loved listening to music. Some of her favorite artists were Tom Petty, Neil Diamond, The Bee Gees, John Denver and UB40. A talented artist with a passion for beading and making jewelry, she had her own line called Kizzieloo Jewelry (named after her late calico cat) and was making cat and dog accessories for her newly established Bella’s Boutique (named for her late puggle-mix Bella Blue Luna). An avid animal lover, she had many cats and dogs throughout her life and enjoyed some of her favorite programs on Animal Planet. She leaves behind her beloved gray cat, Slinky and her Chihuahua, Alvin Wisenheimer.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at Shiloh Community Church, 55 Edmond Street, Manchester, NH 03102 on Saturday, August 23rd from 1-3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to her two favorite charities the New Hampshire Humane Society ¬www.nhspca.org or Operation Smile www.operationsmile.org
