TAUNTON – Mary (Martins) Fernandes, wife of the late Joseph Fernandes, died at Taunton Nursing Home on Aug. 4, 2014.
She was 98.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Andrade Estrella) Martins.
Mrs. Fernandes was educated in Taunton schools, and later worked as a cook at the Bristol County Agricultural High School.
She was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and bowling.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Fernandes, III and his wife Donna of Dighton, and John Fernandes and his wife Andrea of Long Island, NY; two daughters, Mary Fernandes of Moorpark, CA and Debra Ann Guedry and her husband Fred of New Roads, LA; her daughter-in-law and special care giver Paula Fernandes, wife of the late James Fernandes; a sister, Evelyn Faria and her husband Joseph of Taunton; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Alfred, Joseph, Manuel and Anthony Martin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church on Monday, Aug. 11th at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Rehoboth.
