Doctor T. Johnson, Jr., 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at the home of his daughter in Jonesboro, Georgia.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Hood officiating. Interment will follow in Frank Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday.
Mr. Johnson was born April 27, 1925, in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Doctor Theodore Johnson, Sr. and Gladys Estelle Youmans Johnson. A United States Navy Veteran serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, he was a retired Weights and Measurements Enforcement Officer for the Department of Transportation. Mr. Johnson was a former security officer at Dorminy Medical Center. He lived in the community since 1972 from St. Augustine, FL and was a former resident of Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife: Carolyn W. Johnson, Fitzgerald; eight children: Doctor T. Johnson, III, Fitzgerald; Elizabeth J. Alexander, Jonesboro, GA; Debbie R. Johnson, Portland, OR; James Ray, Tifton, GA; Delores K. Steward, Tacoma, WA; Frank Ray, Fitzgerald; Janet Johnson, St. Augustine, FL; Tina Roberts, Fitzgerald; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. One daughter, granddaughter and brother preceded him in death.
