Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Emra (Karam) Halpy, 84, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall East in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on January 23, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Fred R. Karam, Sr. and Victoria (Suse) Karam. She was raised in Springfield and lived in the city before moving to Miami, Florida. She lived in Florida for many years before returning to Springfield around 2003. She was a communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. She leaves her son, Wilfred A. Halpy, Jr. of Holyoke; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; her loving sister, Barbara K. Halpy of Chicopee and her children, Joseph, Annie and Fred Halpy; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Karam of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Halpy and Karam families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving brothers and sisters, Fred R. Karam, Jr., Fay Galanis, Ida Toomey and Ralph Karam. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, August 9, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
