Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY – Charlotte M. (Amlaw) Tenczar, 90, a longtime resident of Belchertown and Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Adams, Massachusetts on December 2, 1923, a beloved daughter of the late Silas Newton Amlaw and Nellie (Mason) Amlaw. She lived on Northampton Street in Holyoke for many years, and then moved to Pine Valley Plantation in Belchertown where she made many friends, before moving to Sarawood Assisted Living in Holyoke. Charlotte was the well-known store manager for many years at the former Dorothy Dodd Clothing Store in Holyoke. She was an original member of the Twenty-Fivers Boat Club in South Hadley and while living in Belchertown, was an active member of many committees at Pine Valley Plantation. During her leisure time, Charlotte enjoyed playing bridge, working on ceramics, crocheting and going out with her many friends. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Belchertown. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew Tenczar who was Called Home on October 30, 1986; her loving sons, John Tenczar who was Called Home in 1966 and William Tenczar who was Called Home on October 27, 2001; her loving daughter-in-law, Grace Brooks Tenczar who was Called Home in 1999; and her dear brother, Francis Amlaw. She leaves her loving granddaughters, Betsi Brooks of West Virginia and Brenda Adams and her husband, Robert, of South Hadley; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Robert Adams and his wife, Melissa, of California and Brooke Adams and her fiancé, Kyle Liguori, of South Hadley; her two cherished great-great grandsons, Robert Adams and Benjamin Adams; her dear sister, Evelyn “Faye” Langevin and her husband, Peter, of Feeding Hills; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Tenczar and Amlaw families.
