Obituary

Erwin Leaver “Lee” Ames, Jr. died Friday, surrounded by a loving family, at his Medford home. He was 51.


Born and raised in Concord NH, Lee served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. A Medford resident for over 30 years, Lee was an active and dedicated member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish. A past president of the Holy Name Society, Lee was presently director of Youth Ministry, a post he held for the past few years. Lee was also a member of the Medford Lodge of Elks.


For 20 years he was a Deputy Sheriff for Middlesex County and served primarily at the Cambridge facilities.


He was the beloved husband of Linda (DiCesare) Ames. He was a devoted father to Heather McCarthy and her husband Edward and Ryan Ames all of Medford. He was a dear son of Joanne (Irving) Ames of Concord, NH and the late Erwin L. Ames, Sr. He was a brother to John Ames, Carolyn Amrol, Dianna Huntoon all of Concord, NH, Lisa Pierce of Franklin, NH, Scotty Ames of Salem, NH, and Michael Ames of Tilton, NH. Lee also leaves many nieces and nephews.


Visiting hours at St. Francis Of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, Monday 3 – 5 & 7- 9 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday evening at 7 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. A Rite of Commendation will be conducted in church Wednesday at 10 AM followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfuly invited to attend.
