Mark J. Flomenhoft of Sandwich, MA; formerly of Stuart, FL and Los Gatos, CA; July 29, 2014. Survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Linda K. Flomenhoft; daughters Jill Flomenhoft of West Hollywood, CA and Kim Flomenhoft of San Diego, CA; son Jonathan Sirkin and wife Leann Sirkin, and granddaughters Ava Sirkin and Emery Sirkin of Marion, NY.
An accomplished high-tech professional in Silicon Valley, Mark was a pioneer in electronic design automation and started two venture capital–funded companies, Avera Technology in 1979 and Tangent Systems in 1984. He also held executive positions in engineering and business development, including Business Manager at Intel and Vice President at Synopsys. In 2005, he founded and served as Vice Chairman of the Angel Investment Forum of Florida.
Born in Philadelphia, Mark was a graduate of Central High School, 1963; the University of Pennsylvania, 1967; Princeton University, 1968; and Lehigh University, 1973, completing a Ph.D. in electrical engineering through the Doctoral Support Program at Bell Telephone Laboratories. He was a member of honor societies including Tau Beta Pi and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
A memorial service will be held at San Lorenzo River Redwoods near Scotts Valley, CA.
