FLYNN, BARBARA J. passed away at the Martha's Vineyard hospital on July 30th, she was 81 years old. Beloved mother of Karen M Flynn of West Tisbury MA, Michael J Flynn of West Tisbury, MA, and Jacqueline Flynn-Morgan, husband Charles, and granddaughter Mary of West Tisbury, MA. She was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph M Flynn. She also had a great nephew; Peter Yankuns, from Tampa, FL. Barbara was born January 1st, 1933 in Boston where she grew up, went to school, worked at a bakery, and later a bank during high school in South Boston. She graduated South Boston High School in 1950. She married, and had her three loving children. Barbara and Joe raised their family in Rockland, Scituate, South Yarmouth, Brookline, and New Hampshire. After Joe died, Barbara took her three kids to start a new life on Martha's Vineyard Island. Barbara worked at the department of public welfare as a clerk, and worked her way to a social worker from 1978 to 2002. She loved her job to the utmost. She also worked at the Capawok theater. When Karen became proprietor of The Bite in 1988, Barbara handled all of the paperwork and money, along with her full-time job. She was an amazing, hard-working woman, who raised her children on her own. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and pet lover to her many cats through the years. A Mass of Christian Burial will held in St. Peter Lithuanian Church, So. Boston, Monday at 10 A.M. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery.
