Willie H. Morgan, 96, of the Lands Crossing Community of Irwin County, Georgia, died Friday, November 19, 2004, at the Irwin County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 21, 2004 at the Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon and Rev. Ed Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Saturday evening at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Morgan was born December 20, 1907, in Dekalb County, Alabama, to the late John C. and Isabelle Lowery Hartline. She had lived in the community for the past thirty years, moving here from the Tampa, Florida area after the death of her husband Thomas Leonard Morgan. While living in the Tampa area she worked at Del Monte Company and Herman’s Sausage Company. After moving to Irwin County, she was a seamstress for Hybernia’s Ladies Specialty Shops, doing alterations for all four shops in Ocilla, Fitzgerald, Douglas and Tifton. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by two daughters: Elouise M. Dimsdale, Lands Crossing Community of Irwin County and Thelma M. Peavy, Acworth, Georgia; five grandchildren: Ted Dimsdale, Jacksonville, Florida, Marcia D. Paulk, Ocilla, Jo Ellen P. Jacobs, Social Circle, Beverly P. Williams, Cumming and Chuck Peavy, Acworth; ten great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Morgan was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Melba D. Johnson, three brothers and two sisters.
