Francis B. Edwards, of Abington, born October 26, 1921, entered into eternal rest Monday July 28, 2014 at Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Weymouth. Francis was born in Rockland and worked for several years at Boston Mutual Life Insurance as well as John Hancock Insurance. He proudly served in the US Navy and was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of the Abington VFW for many years. He was an avid runner and enjoyed playing golf, Spencer’s cheese pizza, and spending time with his family. Francis was predeceased by his loving wife, Miriam A. Edwards and his cherished daughter, Margaret “Peggy “Thomas. He is survived by his son John F. Edwards and his partner Donna O’Brien of Randolph, his granddaughter Lisa Bitsacos and her wife Christina Bitsacos of Agawam, grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, and Heather Thomas of Florida, brother and sister-in-law David & Dolly LeBrun, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Clawson family for their continual care and support of “Auntie” and “Uncle”.
There will be a service for his family and friends held in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman, Monday, August 4, 2014. There will be a calling hour from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and a service immediately following at 11:30 a.m. Francis will then be laid to rest at 1:45 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Connery Ave., in Bourne.
