Marie D. (Konicek) Kennedy, age 91, of Roswell, GA, formerly a long-time resident of Winchester, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at St. George Village in Roswell. She was the wife of the late William J.L. Kennedy,
Born April 9, 1923 in LaGrange, IL, Mrs. Kennedy spent her childhood in Baltimore, MD where she attended Notre Dame Prep. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and worked for many years at the Winchester Public Library. Marie enjoyed her many friends in Winchester and was a regular at the Winchester Boat Club and Winchester Country Club. She was also an active member of the ENKA Society, the Winchester Home and Garden Club, the League of Women Voters, and the Winchester College Club. Marie enjoyed travelling, especially with her children and grandchildren.
Marie was the loving mother of four children, Kathleen Eisenhardt of Palo Alto, CA, William Jr. of Roswell, GA, Michael of Columbia, MD and Elizabeth Fahey of Conyers, GA as well as eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Frances McGlannan of Coral Gables, FL and brother, Frank Konicek of Phoenix, AZ.
The family will receive friends at the Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St. Winchester on Tues., Aug. 5 from 9:00-10:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Jenks Center/Winchester Seniors Association, 109 Skillings Rd. Winchester, MA 01890.
