Charles E. Hutchinson, Sr., 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2014, at The Ocilla Church of God with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Hutchinson was born September 21, 1934, in Enigma, Georgia, to the late A. B. and Louvenia Dyes Hutchinson. He had lived in the community all of his life. Mr. Hutchinson served his country, in the United States Army, during the Korean War. He was a life long truck driver, being owner and operator. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and a former member of the Ben Hill Shiner’s. Mr. Hutchinson was of the non-denominational faith.
He is survived by his wife: Glenda Hutchinson of Fitzgerald; children: Robert & Susan Hutchinson of Fitzgerald, Pat Hutchinson of Houma, Louisiana, Michael & Angela Hutchinson of Ocilla, JoAnn H. Simpson of Houma, Louisiana, William Hutchinson of Fitzgerald, Sandra Hutchinson of Ocilla, Libby H. & Gary Yawn of Ocilla, Charlene Hutchinson-Jones & Barron of Ocilla, Candis Hutchinson of Ocilla, Jimmy Leon & Jen Ellis of Fitzgerald and Teresa Ellis of Fitzgerald; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; sisters: Evelyn Griffin of Wray, Kathy Shepard of Fitzgerald, Shirley Futch of Fitzgerald and Sylvia Richardson of Ocilla. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Charles Edwin Hutchinson, Jr.; his former wife: Sally Graus Hutchinson; brothers: Byrd Hutchinson and Alsie G. Hutchinson; a great-grandson: Jimmy Lylle “Grasshopper” Cotterman and a great-great grandson: Ashton Hugh Hutchinson and a great-great granddaughter, Stephanie Sierra Roberson.
